Net External Force

The sum of all external forces acting on a system; if zero, the system is at rest or moving at constant velocity.

Newton's First Law of Motion

A body at rest tends to remain at rest. A body in motion tends to remain in motion at a constant velocity unless acted on by a net external force.

Normal Force (N)

The force exerted by a surface that pushes on an object in response to gravity (on a horizontal surface).
